Gautham Menon’s Photon Kathaas Music label was launched by Suriya, Harris Jayraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja at the Music Academy Hall in Chennai yesterday (December 9th, 2010). The entire event, being the launch of a music label, seemed like a prologue to the music festival that takes place every December.

Gautham said that when he decided to launch this music company, he was set on having Harris at the inaugural ceremony to release the label as he has been his close friend and worked with him in several films. On Yuvan, Gautham said that he is a great fan of the young music director and would listen to his music as soon as his CDs hits the market; something which Yuvan did not know till then. Gautham added that he wanted to bring in a star from Bollywood and opted for Suriya as the best option. This statement received a reverberation of applause from the audience.

The function began with an invocation from Aroona Sairam who sang the song Kakkai Siraginile. Karaoke by singers Krish, Guru Priya, Haricharan, MJ Sreeram and others was the highlight of this event. Vijay Ebenezer was at the piano scoring the music. Incidentally, he is the music composer for the film Kandein, the music of which will be the first to release under the label Photon Kathaas Music.

On the efforts of his buddy Gautham, Harris said that he is happy that Gautham is re-investing the money he had earned in cinema back into it through his production house and now through his music company.

Almost all the celebrities seated along with the audience were asked questions pertaining to their projects. When the mike was passed on to Suriya with a question about his forthcoming flick 7aam Arivu, he said that director AR Murugadoss is a typical taskmaster who is keen on incessant work. He revealed that the 7aam Arivu shooting will go on for the next two months.

Sangeetha was questioned about her forthcoming release Manmadhan Ambu but she declined to disclose any details as she has been instructed to remain tight-lipped.

'Rattha Charithram' Postponed Again

The ardent buffs of Suriya are enthralled about the release of his next film ‘Rattha Charithram’. The film was supposedly scheduled for release on this Friday. On the spur of moment, the producers have postponed it again to December 3.

The Tamil version was to release along with the second part of Telugu and Hindi on November 26. Due to more releases in Telugu and Hindi, the distributors and exhibitors are delaying the release as they want to spin more profit. It is worth mentioning that the first half has witnessed tremendous results in both Hindi and Telugu.

So the fans of Suriya will have wait for yet another week to catch up their star’s different film.

Dayanidhi Azhagiri and Vivek Karunakaran of Cloud Nine Productions are into full-fledged promotions of the film in all media networks. The teasers over the satellite channels are constantly appearing while the announcements and dialogues of Suriya are aired in radio channels.

Suriya-Manmadhan Ambu Connection

Actor Suriya shares a great rapport with Padmashree Kamal Haasan from a very long time. Before few months, there was some news about Kamal Haasan planning to direct a film for Suriya. Although, it remains unconfirmed, there is interesting news about Suriya-Kamal Haasan connection.

According to sources, reports are that Suriya plays a cameo role in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Manmadhan Ambu’. The film has already grabbed everyone’s attention for being one of the big budget movies of this year. With so many actors being a part of star-casts, Suriya’s cameo should be a surprise for the audiences.

Kamal Haasan’s close friend-actor Ramesh Aravind too plays an important role in this film. He has already shared screen space with the versatile actor in super hit films like ‘Sathi Leela Vathi’ and ‘Pancha Thanthiram’.

Director KV Anand's Ayan might have gone on to become a superhit, but the director, at a function, revealed that it took some major convincing on his part to make Suriya accept the role.

Anand, who's currently busy with Ko, said, "When I approached Suriya with the one-liner, he said the storyline was pretty old. He felt that movies on smuggling had been done to death in Kollywood. I didn't know how to convince him and then, said that Ayan will be like a Ram Gopal Varma film. I also added that the romance bit in Ayan will be treated like that in Mani Ratnam's ventures and the action sequences will be canned like those in Shankar's films. I finally cajoled the actor after lying through my teeth!"

Suriya To Perform At '7 Aum Arivu' Audio Launch

Suriya, the fondest child of box office leaves no stones unturned when it comes to his projects. Having completed numerous spells of hat trick on continuous row, the actor is reported of finding a new way to promote his next film ‘7 Aum Arivu’.

The film directed by A.R. Murugadoss is set in backdrops of two different eras and Suriya performs the role of stuntmen at circus. To strike at his best, the actor is reported of having undergone a vivid training in rope fights, swinging on airs and many more sorts of martial arts.

It seems that the actor would perform this live for the spectators during the audio launch of ‘7 Aum Arivu’.

The film’s shooting is swaying on full pace and A.R. Murugadoss is keener on wrapping up the schedules so as to kick-start his next Bollywood project shortly.

A.R. Murugadoss should be breaking himself into terrible annoyance as the rumor mongers are unceasingly focusing on his upcoming film. ‘7 Aum Arivu’ went on floors before few months and the first schedule is almost completed. Initially, the film was reported of inspired from Hollywood movie ‘Inception’, directed by Christopher Nolan. However, as Murugadoss came up with logical reasoning, it was a perfect ending for such stories.

But now as Murugadoss has said that it will be a medical thriller, here comes yet another rumor to lookout for. It seems that the film is based on one of novels authored by Robin Cook.

Robin Cook is well known for penning medical-thrillers and some of them have already been made as TV series and Hollywood movies.

Well don’t get surprised Murugadoss! The next rumor you may hear is that your film is a sequel to Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Sixth Sense’.

In spite of his career being brimmed with glorious successes, this would be one of the best and important films in his career. Working with Ram Gopal Varma would be the ultimate dream of any actor in tinsel town. Perhaps, Suriya was the lucky one to have fetched the best offer.

‘Rattha Charithram’ featuring Suriya, Vivek Oberoi and Priyamani in lead roles is produced by Madhu Mantena and Sheetal Vinod Talwar of Cinergy Productions and is now acquired by Dayanidhi Azhagiri and Vivek Rathinavel of Cloud Nine Productions.

The Telugu version’s music release was recently held in Hyderabad. But unfortunately, Ram Gopal Varma alone was the highlighting factor for the occasion as none of the star-casts were present.

The Tamil version’s music is expected to be launched in October and the promotional campaigns have already commenced.

Surya replaces Ajith in Gautham Menon's next

Gautham Menon’s open statement on his decisions about not working with Ajith Kumar in future had stirred up agitations amongst the actor’s fans. At the other end, the diehard buffs of Gautham Menon were curiously looking out for Gautham Menon’s next choice. It looks like it’s his close pal Surya, who has bagged the offer. Another interesting buzz about the film is Gautham Menon signing British Model Amy Jackson of Madrasapattinam fame for the female lead role.


Thuppariyum Anand will be a suspense thriller set in backdrop of 1930s with film revolving around a detective investigating series of murders held in the city of ancient Chennai.


In a recent interview, cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa had mentioned that both he and Gautham Menon have already started their researches based on working style of detectives during pre independence era.

Suriya’s success isn’t just the order of day, but the actor makes sure his films differ greatly from other films. The actor is sure-footed of fetching greatest laurels with his upcoming multi-lingual release ‘Raktha Charithra’.

The latest we hear about the film is that the Tamil version will be acquired by Dayanidhi Azhagiri of Cloud Nine Productions.

Ram Gopal Varma had plans about releasing the film’s first part on September 17 (Hindi and Telugu) while the sequel after 3-4 weeks after its release. Since, RC-2 will have more prominence of Suriya; the producers have planned to release the Tamil version in single part.

It looks like the film’s release will be probably during third week of October.

Suriya becomes No.1 Kollywood Actor

Actor Suriya has been officially announced as No. 1 in the Tamil film industry. KUMUDAM – the leading Tamil magazine of India has listed 10 topmost influential celebrities of Kollywood amongst which Suriya has been listed on No.1.

திருமணம் ஆகி, ஒரு குழந்தைக்கு அப்பாவானதால் எனக்கு பெண் ரசிகைகள் குறைந்து விட்டார்களா இல்லையா என்ற கணக்கு வழக்கு எனக்குத்தெரியாது. (உடனே இயக்குநர் கே.வி.ஆனந்த் குறுக்கீட்டு, ரசிகைகள் ஆதரவு சூர்யாவுக்கு முன்பை விட அதிகமாகி இருக்கிறது. இதை படப்பிடிப்பின் போது நேரில் கண்டேன் என்றார்)

சினிமா பற்றி பேசுவதில்லை

ஜோதிகாவின் கணவர் என்பதில் எனக்கு நிறையவே மரியாதை கூடியுள்ளது. ஆனால் நான் நடிக்கும் படங்கள், கதை குறித்தெல்லாம் ஜோதிகாவுடன் நான் விவாதிப்பதில்லை.

வீட்டில் ஜோதிகாவுக்கு நல்ல கணவராகவும், மகள் தியாவுக்கு நல்ல தந்தையாகவும் இருக்கிறேன். அதற்கே நேரம் சரியாக இருக்கிறது. ஜோதிகாவிடம் சினிமா பற்றி நான் பேசுவதில்லை. ஏதாவது பேச ஆரம்பித்தால் கூட, தியா பற்றி பேசுங்கள் என்று என் மனைவி கூறிவிடுவார்.

சிவகுமாருடன் ஒப்பிட வேண்டாம்!

எல்லோரும் என்னை என் தந்தை சிவக்குமாருடன் ஒப்பிட முயற்சிக்கிறார்கள். அது அடிப்படையில் தவறு. அவர் பல பரிமாணங்களைப் பார்த்தவர். தனது ஒவ்வொரு பத்து வருடத்திலும் புதுப் பரிமாணம் கண்டவர். ஒரு ஓவியனாக, நடிகராக, பின்னர் கதாநாயகனாக, குணச்சித்திர நடிகராக, எழுத்தாளராக, இப்போது இலக்கிய சொற்பொழிவாளராக... எனக்கு பிரமிப்பாக இருக்கிறது. அவர் அளவுக்கெல்லாம் என்னால் ஜொலிக்க முடியுமா என்று நினைத்துப் பார்க்க முடியவில்லை.

கம்பராயமாயணம் புத்தகத்தை நானெல்லாம் தொட்டுப் பார்த்தது கூட இல்லை. அதற்கான பொறுமை, அதை விளங்கிக் கொள்ளும் அறிவு நமக்கு இருக்குமா எனத் தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் அவரோ இரண்டரை மணி நேரத்தில் இடைவெளியின்றி கம்ப ராமாயணப் பாடல்கள் மூலம் அந்த காப்பியத்தையே சொல்லிவிட்டார். அந்த பிரமிப்பே எனக்கு அடங்கவில்லை. பல பரிமாணம் கண்ட அவருடன், இப்போதுதான் நடிக்க ஆரம்பித்திருக்கும் என்னை ஒப்பிட வேண்டாம்.

பணத்துக்காக மட்டும் நடிக்கக் கூடாது!

நான் நடிக்கும் ஒவ்வௌரு படமும் ஏதோ ஒரு விதத்தில் வித்தியாசமாக அமைய வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறேன். அதற்காக நிறைய ஹோம் வொர்க் செய்கிறேன். சண்டைக் காட்சிகளில் முழு ரிஸ்க் எடுத்து நான் செய்யக் காரணம், என்னுடைய 100 சதவிகித பங்களிப்பை என் கேரக்டருக்குத் தர வேண்டும் என்பதால்தான். பணத்துக்காக மட்டும் நான் நடிப்பதில்லை. அப்படி நடிக்கவும் கூடாது, என்றார் சூர்யா.

The audio of Va Quarter Cutting was released on September 1st 2010 at Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai. Suriya, Arya, Dayanidhi Azhagiri, Udayanidhi Stalin and Sasikanth released the audio during this grand event. Noted film director Venkat Prabhu hosted the show.

Va Quarter Cutting has Shiva, Lekha Washington and SPB Charan playing the lead roles and is directed by Pushkar and Gayathri. The music for this film has been scored by GV Prakash.

Mysskin, Lingusamy, Vijay, Dharani, Vetrimaran, Rama Narayanan among others were present at the audio launch function.

GAUTHAM MENON –IS HIS NEXT HEROINE AMY AND SURIYA?

Notwithstanding the back-to-back movies produced by his home banner, Gautham Menon is also busy with his Nadunisi Naigal. That, however, did not stop the media from churning out speculations about his thriller project with Suriya and Amy Jackson. It is also being said that the movie is a detective story.

We decided to get this clarified from the horse’s mouth and contacted Gautham in this regard. When contacted by the Behindwoods correspondent, Gautham rubbished the reports as rumors and maintained that there are no such projects planned in the future.

Shruthi injured whilst shooting

Shruti Haasan, who is making her acting debut in Kollywood with Suriya starrer ‘7am Arivu’, got injured Sunday afternoon while shooting a stunt scene for the A R Murgadoss directed film.

The accident took place when the cast and crew of the Udhayanidhi Stalin’s production venture were shooting some ‘dangerous stunt scenes’ on the Velachery -Tambaram main road, on the outskirts of Chennai.

According to the daughter of ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ Kamal Hassan, the injury is on her elbow, and she is now taking rest. Suriya, on seeing her groaning in pain, immediately rushed to her side and helped a lot.

Shruti added saying “Suriya is a super supportive co-star ready with magic medication and lots of concern!”
